Hermosa Beach Events: Day at the Beach Triathlon

The annual Day of the Beach Triathlon is one more invigorating reason why buyers search Hermosa Beach CA homes for sale. The 2015 race promises to be a fun experience, even for beginners. Athletes can pick up their packets starting at noon October 17, 2015 at Triathlon Lab, 1512 Aviation Boulevard, Redondo Beach CA 90278 or at 5:15-6:45 AM on Sunday, October 18, 2015. The goal is to arrive at the finish line safely and enjoy yourself on the way!

Day at the Beach Triathlon Itinerary

The race begins from the Hermosa Beach Pier at 7:00 AM on Sunday, October 18, 2015.

The first leg is a refreshing swim in the ocean. Wetsuits are highly recommended.
Then comes a 10-mile bike course. Cyclists climb Pier Avenue, take Valley Drive towards Manhattan Beach, and then move along Ardmore Avenue.
The running course follows paved roads with beautiful ocean views.

Preparing for the Hermosa Beach Triathlon

Triathlon Lab prepares participants for the arduous race ahead of time. There are two types of clinics available on October 17. The Triathlon 101 Clinic provides information that is especially helpful for the beginner triathlete. The session includes a race day checklist and the top 10 things to take.

Sessions begin at 1 PM and 3 PM Saturday.

The Transition Clinic provides interactive information to help participants stay safe during the transitions. Sessions begin at 130 and 330 on Saturday.

Race Sponsorship

The Day of the Beach is held annually in Hermosa Beach during October. The event is in its 19th year and draws athletes from Los Angeles County and Orange County. In addition to the Nautica Malibu Triathlon, It is sponsored by Longo Toyota and Penske Motor Group partnering with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Fundraising is geared toward pediatric cancer research.
